Monrovia, Liberia — The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) of Liberia, in coordination with the Liberia National Police, has kicked off a bold and far-reaching National Environmental Compliance Monitoring Tour, spanning all 15 counties from May 3 to May 15, 2025.

This aggressive enforcement drive—rooted in the Environmental Protection and Management Law of 2003—is aimed at holding both current and proposed development projects accountable to environmental standards. From bustling cities to remote concession zones, EPA teams will be inspecting air, water, and soil quality, alongside evaluating chemical usage and environmental safeguards.

“This is not just a tour—it’s a mission to defend our environment, our health, and our future,” said Danise Dennis Dodoo, Assistant Director of Media and Communication at the EPA. “Liberia cannot afford to gamble with its natural resources.”

The initiative focuses on industries with major ecological footprints, including mining, forestry, and agriculture. EPA specialists will carry out scientific assessments while reinforcing the importance of regulatory compliance among developers and local authorities.

The campaign also emphasizes partnership. The EPA is actively engaging local leaders, mayors, superintendents, township commissioners, and other stakeholders to support the enforcement process and promote sustainable practices across sectors.

“Our health and environment are interconnected,” Dodoo added. “Only through joint action can we secure a cleaner, safer Liberia—for today and tomorrow.”
