Monrovia, Liberia, The Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice, has ordered the closure of the Lofa Medic Services Clinic located in Neezoe, Jacob Town, following disturbing allegations of medical malpractice that resulted in the death of a patient.

The official statement, posted Late Monday, March 24, 2025, on the LMDC’s Official Facebook page, revealed that a preliminary investigation uncovered that the clinic’s administrator, Sam Wolobah, was illegally operating as a medical doctor. Wolobah, who is reportedly an Operating Room (OR) Technician by training, allegedly performed surgical procedures that led to the death of 30-year-old Samuel P. Kollie.

In response to these findings, the LMDC, with support from the Ministry of Justice, ordered the immediate closure of the clinic on Monday. Sam Wolobah was subsequently arrested and turned over to the Liberia National Police (LNP) for a full criminal investigation.

The LMDC extended its appreciation to the Ministry of Justice’s Public Safety Department for its assistance and emphasized its commitment to protecting the health and safety of the Liberian people.

“The public can rest assured that through collaboration, we can weed out quacks and ensure quality healthcare,” James-Emmanuel D. Cole, Jr. stated in the release.

The LMDC reaffirmed its dedication to rooting out unqualified practitioners operating within the healthcare sector and vowed to strengthen oversight to ensure quality medical services across the country.

This case has drawn the attention of several health sector bodies, including the West African College of Surgeons, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Justice, and the Liberian Board of Nursing & Midwifery, as the investigation continues.
