The Acting Executive Director of National Fisheries and Aquaculture Authority (NaFAA), J Cyrus Saygbe Sr, has vowed to conduct a comprehensive audit of against the leadership of suspension Executive Director Emma Glasco.
The program took place at the institution headquarters on the Bushord Island brought together senior government officials, Traditional Leaders, students, members of the religious community and the media.
Speaking at the taking over Ceremony NAFAA Acting Boss, J Cyrus Saygbe Sr, l disclosed that upon taking office, the bank balance was slightly over US$450,000, despite the agency’s budget for 2024 exceeding US$4 million.
He further that several pressing challenges, including significant financial hurdles such as NASSCOP remittance, LRA tax clearance, and outstanding salary payments. He also highlighted a shortfall in remittance to the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), with NaFAA failing to meet its target of US$1.276 million.
I have instructed the Internal Audit Agency (IAA) to audit the past administration, as means of bringing transparency and accountability in the authority’s operations. The move marks a significant step towards addressing the financial and administrative challenges facing NAFAA. He added.
