The World Bank has announced a substantial financial commitment of $490 million to support Liberia’s new Country Partnership Framework (CPF), which aligns with the government’s national development agenda.

The funding will focus on critical sectors including energy—aiming to boost national electricity access from 33% to 75%—education, agribusiness, digital transformation, and more. The CPF is expected to be presented to the World Bank Board for approval later this month.

The commitment was revealed by World Bank Vice President Ousmane Diagana during a high-level meeting with a Liberian delegation led by Finance Minister Hon. Augustine Kpehe Ngafuan, held on the sidelines of the IMF/World Bank Spring Meetings.

In a related development, Minister Ngafuan and his delegation also met with Sultan Al-Marshad, CEO of the Saudi Fund for Development, who pledged support for the Salayea-Voinjama section of the Gbarnga-Mendikorma Road Project. This follows earlier engagements with Kuwaiti and other Arab development partners.

In a further show of international recognition, Minister Ngafuan was unanimously elected Chairperson of the African Development Bank’s Standing Committee on Conditions of Service for Elected Officers for the 2025–2026 term. The committee includes representatives from Gabon, Korea, Ireland, Guinea-Bissau, and Liberia.
