Monrovia–President Joseph N. Boakai has launched a digital transformation training, targeting 10,000 Liberian Youths Across the country.
The Launching ceremony held at the EJS Ministerial Complex in Congo Town was witnessed by stakeholders of government, the private sector and would-be beneficiary of the project.
The initiative is in fulfilment of his commitment made during his inaugural address which he committed his administration to train up to 10,000 young people in various digital skills in the first half of 2024.
Speaking at the occasion President Boakai reaffirmed his support towards digital transformation in Liberia, adding that “failure to embrace such idea, amounts to risking relegation and silencing the lowest progress”.
He furthered that the competitiveness of the youths in the job market, will further lead to he mandating the Minister of education to include Information Communication Technology ICT a compulsory for highschool students in the academy curriculum.
For his part, the minister of youth and sports Cllr. Jeror Cole Bangalu, who is also an implementing arm to the project, pledged unwavering support to achieving the president’s dreams.
“We will give those people access to the tools that run, accelerate, sustainable development in this era of involutive technology and speed driven automation.” Minister Bangalu asserted.
He noted that the activities will also be achieved through efficiency, transparency and accountability.
Following the official launch, the skills training for the 10,000 youths will be executed through the collective efforts of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Liberia Telecommunications Authority, Ministry of Post and Telecommunication
