Dismissed National Road Fund Employees Allege Unlawful Termination Amidst Leadership Lapses

Monrovia, Liberia – A wave of discontent has swept through the ranks of dismissed employees at the National Road Fund of Liberia (NFL), who are now accusing the institution’s head, Madam Josette Nuyvell Wento, of unjustifiably terminating their contracts without due process. The aggrieved workers, numbering in dozens, claim that the dismissals occurred without prior notice and emphasized what they perceive as leadership lapses and a lack of care for the employees since Madam Wento took charge.

In a weekend protest staged by the disgruntled former employees, they voiced their concerns, highlighting their combined five years of service at the institution. Dorothy Comehn, a Program Assistant at the National Road Fund, spoke on behalf of the group, lamenting the setbacks they’ve faced since Madam Wento assumed leadership. The protesters have threatened to continue their demonstrations on the premises of the National Road Fund until their grievances are adequately addressed.

The group went further, characterizing Madam Wento’s actions as a witch hunt, fueled by speculations of perceived support for the Unity Party during the recent Presidential and Legislative Elections. In response, Emmett Kooker, the Director for Communication at the National Road Fund, dismissed these claims, asserting that the protesting individuals were never employed by the institution. He described them as pay agents attempting to tarnish the institution’s image.
