Liberia: HPX, Guma Africa Group and GOL Dialogue to Implement Multi-User Railway

Monrovia, Liberia–The Government of Liberia, High Power Exploration Inc (HPX) and Guma Africa group Ltd have unveiled an agreement aim to design, finance, develop and operate “The Liberty Corridor” – a new multi-user infrastructure corridor connecting Guinea and Liberia. The initiative will include an extension of already constructed hydropower network from Ivory Cost into portion of Nimba districts as well as Guinea with durable rail system. Some of the benefits according to the negotiation are, upgrading existing road networks in the Nimba district to every weather roads and the implementation of fibre optic telecommunication cable which will connect Liberia specifically some districts in Nimba.

The “Liberty Corridor” as arranged, will be a joint development between the Government of Liberia, HPX and the Guma Africa Group, with the three parties who on Friday entered into an exclusive 30 day period (which can be extended) during which the final framework agreement will be negotiated. The Liberian legislature will ratify the final agreement documents when completed.

The Signing ceremony took place at the Executive Mansion on February 10, 2024, bringing together key actors of all parties together including the Founder, Chairman and CEO of I-Pulse Inc Mr Robert Friedland, Bronwyn Barnes, President and CEO of HPX, Mr Robert Gumede Chairman and Founder of Guma Africa Group and The President of Liberia His Excellency Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr.

President Boakai during the occasion expressed enthusiasm in the project that is inline with his ARREST agenda, and at the same time lauded the partners for imposing trust in his administration. The President also thanked HPX management for the determination expressed to operate in Liberia, to provide employment opportunities for Liberians and to contribute to the economic viability of the country.
