Monrovia, Liberia– The Commander In Chief of the Armed Forces of Liberia Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr. has assured aggrieved protesters of the army Wives Association a thorough investigation in their numerous grievances for which they have been on strike.
In a brief remark when he met with the aggrieved protesters at his Rehab office in Paynesville, President Boakai stated that he will constitute a committee to swiftly probe into the matter and provide report in a week time. He urged them to stay calm as he daft in to have the matter resolved.
Since the appointment of the former chief of staff of the AFL Maj. Gen. Prince C. Johnson III as Defense Minister, Wives of some army personnel have been on the rampage, demanding his rejection. of recent the women disclosed challenges they are currently experiencing at the Edward Beyan Kesselly Barracks in Schieffelin. These include retirement benefits, low salary, corruption, lack of adequate insurance, education, poor housing, lack of electricity, social services, and their general welfare. They stated these challenges have lingered on too long enough without redress as the military leadership have remained indifferent.
Meanwhile, after guaranteeing the hope for timely investigation into their quest, Pres. Boakai has also announced a A Low-key Armed Forces Day Celebration.
