Monrovia, Liberia– The Military Wives Association Protest that is calling on the immediate resignation of Retired Maj. Gen. Prince C. Johnson III as Defense Minister, has extended to six different counties within the country.
The call for the resignation of the former Chief of Staff of the Army in Liberia has been taking place only in Montserrado and Margibi since his nominations as defense minister by the Commander in Chief of the Army. The situation has kyrocketed across additional four counties, intensifying tension for the removal of the Retired General.
Following a week of protest at the grounds of the Capital Building in Monrovia, The women on early Monday morning took the decision to block the ELWA–RIA Highway in Margibi, Bong Mines Bridge in Montserrado, Camp Tubman Military Barrack in Gbarnga and Grand Gedeh county simultaneously.

Since the appointment of the former chief of staff of the AFL Maj. Gen. Prince C. Johnson III as Defense Minister, Wives of some army personnel have been on the rampage, demanding his rejection. of recent the women disclosed challenges they are currently experiencing at the Edward Beyan Kesselly Barracks in Schieffelin. These include retirement benefits, low salary, corruption, lack of adequate insurance, education, poor housing, lack of electricity, social services, and their general welfare. They stated these challenges have lingered on too long enough without redress as the military leadership have remained indifferent.
Despite a call for calm by the Liberian Head of State, the women (MWAL) continues to demand the resignation of their former Chief of Staff.
