Maryland County: Senatorial Candidate Accuses NEC Hearing Officer of Seeking Bribery in Elections Fraud Case

Monrovia, Liberia– Following an electoral fraud and irregularities Complaint filed against the National Elections Commission in the October 10, polls, Maryland Senatorial Candidate Dr. Wollor E. Topor has accused NEC Hearing Officer Alexander Bai of Soliciting bribe to render judgement in his favor.

Dr. Topor who reached 11,618 votes in the recent presidential and legislative elections disclosed that his grievances which was channel through the legal procedure was dismissed by the County magistrate on based on his refusal to complied with the US$500.00 requested for by the NEC Hearing Officer and not on the bases of merits.

According to him the action of the clerk and hearing officer makes him believe that similar request was made to the Current Senator Elect J. Gblebo Brown to influence their ruling because “the senator currently holds the largest check book in the case”.

The Defeated Senatorial Candidate Noted that he’s poised to take an appeal to the supreme court to seek redress anytime soon. He asserted that the situation created by the National Election Commission poses threat to the representation of the inhabitants Maryland County.

Dr. Topor who came Surfaced second in the 2023 Legislative race has been in a legal battle with NEC for and alleged fraud and irregularities which was later dismissed paving the way for the certification of J. Gblebo Brown.
