Capitol Building _The House’s committee Chair on Agriculture and forestry Rep. Zinnah Normah vows to institute Agriculture taskforce nationwide aimed at discerning the plight and welfare of the local farmers across the country.
The Gbarpolu County District #1 Representative said his decision to establish taskforce across the country is intended to afford the local farmers the space to ascertain from them issues affecting the agriculture sector and finding solutions to boost productivity.
Rep. Normah noted that understanding the issues affecting local farmers is vital to finding solutions to hurdles confronting the sector.
The former Mayor of Bopolu city furthered that each county will be represented by a taskforce coordinator charged with the responsibility to coordinate all Agriculture activities and report to him on prevailing Agricultural issues.
The Agriculture sector of Liberia is among key sectors confronted with low productivity and as such the price of agricultural products remain high on the Liberian market.
Liberia is importing 85-90% of its staple food rice from India and other Western countries- a situation that concerns the works of the ministry of Agriculture.
