Former Minister Tweah Heads for Another Hook?

Monrovia – Days after his acquittal on multiple charges, former Finance Minister Samuel D. Tweah says he is preparing a public response to a letter from Asset Recovery officials and plans to use the moment to launch a national discussion on governance under President Joseph Boakai.

In a statement posted online, Tweah said his lawyer, Cllr. Arthur Tamba Johnson, was informed by Asset Recovery’s Cllr. Kla Martin that a letter addressed to him would be sent today. Tweah directed his lawyer to receive it on his behalf.

“I informed my lawyer that I, Samuel D. Tweah, Jr., would never kowtow to political intimidation and blackmail,” Tweah wrote, referencing historical figures and Liberians who died in the country’s civil conflicts.

He stated he would post the letter once received and announce the date he intends to deliver his response in person.

On that same day, Tweah said he will convene a forum at CIEO to examine what he called “the maladies of national development and democracy under President Joseph Boakai.” The session, he added, will focus on whether gains made in the 20 years since the end of Liberia’s civil war are being reversed.

Tweah ended the post with: “Stay tuned as I await the letter.”
