Monrovia, Liberia – Admired for his swift and transformative leadership, Burkina Faso’s President Captain Ibrahim Traoré has been written a passionate letter of solidarity from prominent Liberian politician and Liberia First Movement leader, Sheikh Al-Moustapha Kouyateh, who praised him as a symbol of patriotic and selfless African leadership in the face of alleged foreign interference and neo-colonial pressures.
In the letter, dated April 30, 2024, Kouyateh praised President Traoré’s commitment to national sovereignty, social progress, and economic independence, declaring his unwavering support for the Burkinabé leader’s vision to transform Burkina Faso—widely known as “the land of honest people”—into a dignified and empowered African state.
“We are aware of the fabricated lies propagated by imperialist forces and agents of neo-colonialism regarding your leadership,” Kouyateh wrote. “We recognize you as an honest man who has prioritized the total freedom, economic growth, and social development of your people over personal ambition.”
Drawing historical parallels, Kouyateh compared Traoré to legendary African revolutionaries such as Thomas Sankara, Patrice Lumumba, Samora Machel, and Muammar Gaddafi—leaders who also faced international scrutiny and internal sabotage for challenging Western domination and advocating for African unity and autonomy.
The letter strongly condemned what Kouyateh described as coordinated efforts by foreign actors to destabilize Africa through proxy conflicts, misinformation campaigns, and exploitative economic arrangements. “They are inventing enemies among us—some they label as jihadists, others as M23… This strategy is intended to keep us divided, impoverished, and at war with ourselves,” he asserted.
Kouyateh also criticized the role of certain NGOs and international agreements, accusing them of enabling resource exploitation under the guise of humanitarian aid and diplomacy. He called on President Traoré to reject any deals that compromise the dignity and progress of his nation.
“You are a true example of selfless leadership in Africa,” Kouyateh continued. “Keep your focus on your goals to make Burkina Faso great again. Your leadership can inspire Africa to reclaim its sovereignty and dignity.”
The Liberia First Movement leader closed the letter with a resounding message of solidarity: “We stand with you until Africa rises.”
