MONROVIA, Liberia – The Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights, Claims and Petitions is asking President Joseph Boakai to take disciplinary action against Civil Service Agency Director General Josiah Joekai.
In a report submitted to plenary, the committee recommended that Mr. Joekai either be suspended or removed from office for participating in a political program organized by Montserrado County Senator Thomas Fallah.
Lawmakers argued that the CSA boss’s presence at the partisan gathering violates civil service regulations on political neutrality.
The committee’s findings have been placed on the Senate’s agenda and are now pending debate by the full plenary. A final decision will depend on deliberations by senators and subsequent communication from the Senate to the Executive.
The CSA is mandated to enforce rules governing the conduct of civil servants, including restrictions on involvement in partisan political activities.
