Former Rep. Prince Tokpa Extols Pres. Boakai’s Decision to Cancel 67th Armed Forces Day Celebration

Monrovia, Liberia–Cross sections of citizens have lauded President Joseph Nyuma Boakai with the latest from former Nimba county district Number 2 Representatives Prince Torkpa for his decision to cancel the 67th Armed Forces day celebration after AFL wives held the country hostage for nearly approximately 48hr.

The former Nimba county district Number two Representatives asserted that the decision by President Boakai to cancelled the 67th Armed Forces day celebration which was mark by protestations across the country by Wives of men in the Army since the appointment and subsequent confirmation of the retired Gen. Prince Charles Johnson lll.

It can be recalled that since the appointment by the former Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia as Defense Minister at the Ministry of National Defense, A group under the banner Military Wives Association of Liberia embarked on a protest, demanding the resignation of the appointed Minister due to what they term as “poor welfare, lack of housing facilities, and corruption against their husbands” by their past leadership.
the protest continue upto February 11, 2024 prompting the president of the state to call for a low-key Celebration.

Following the president for his leadership role in the process including Rep Torkpa. He further lauded the former minister of National Defense Prince C. Johnson for the decision to resigned “for the sake of peace” in the country.

Reacting to concerns about his political intent the former Legislator unveiled that his foremost priority is to invest in the private sector that will creat job opportunities for upcoming young folks in his constituency.

Meanwhile the Nimba former Lawmaker has cautioned the media to refrain from hate speaches in the discharge of their duty, indicating that their role has the ability to influence the growth of the nation.
