The Civil Service Agency (CSA) has reported a disturbing rise in “unbecoming conduct” among civil servants, including dishonesty, unethical behavior, and criminal activities.
In a press release on Monday August 19, 2024, the CSA disclosed that the situation is exacerbated by increasing instances of bullying and disrespectful remarks towards colleagues, both in the workplace and online.
According to the office of the CSA, this conduct breaches multiple sections of the Standing Orders and the Code of Conduct, leading to severe disciplinary measures for those involved.
The CSA emphasizes that while civil servants are encouraged to engage in constructive criticism, the current trend undermines the integrity and professionalism of the public service.
The alerts from the Civil Servants Head comes after it has dismissed about eight employees who are believe to be members of the opposition community, for misconduct, an action that has been criticized by many prominent Liberians including civil society groups.
