Capitol Hill, Monrovia – Amid a heated debate over alleged budget alterations, Margibi County Senator Nathaniel McGill and Nimba County District #7 Representative Musa Hassan Bility have found themselves at odds. The dispute centers around claims that the budget figures presented to the Liberian Senate differed from those submitted to the Executive branch.
Representative Bility has accused members of the Senate of tampering with the budget, a claim Senator McGill vehemently denies. McGill suggests that any alterations might have occurred during the final printing process at the Executive branch.
At a joint press conference on Thursday, August 15, 2024, both lawmakers highlighted their disagreements on the source of the alleged budget tampering. They called for an independent investigation, emphasizing that concerns from fellow legislators, Senator Amara Konneh and Representative Clarence Garh, further warrant scrutiny by the leadership of both Houses.
