Liberia: Senate Puts Ministry of State Under Scrutiny amid Allegations of Soliciting Funds from NASSCORP to Procure Vehicles for Pres. Boakai’s Inauguration

Monrovia: A special committee is being tasked by the Liberian Senate with investigating the Ministry of States for allegedly requesting large sums of money from NASSCORP in order to purchase automobiles for President Boakai’s inauguration.

A special committee has been tasked by the Liberian Senate Plenary to look into claims that the Ministry of States solicited large sums of money from the National Social Security and Welfare Corporation in order to purchase cars for President Boakai’s inauguration.

Senators Abraham Darius Dillon of Montserrado County and Amara Konneh of Gbarpolu County jointly signed the communication to the plenary on the Ministry of State on NASSCORP.

In the conversation, the legislator Konneh presented a purportedly signed letter from Special Advisor to President Boakai, who is currently Minister of States for Presidential Affairs Syvester Grisby, directing Director General of NASSCORP Dewitt von Ballmoos to buy five vehicles, each costing $115,000, to transport foreign guests from the RIA to the Capitol building for President Joseph Boakai’s inauguration.
