Monrovia, Liberia — The head of the Liberia Maritime Authority (LiMA), Neto Zarzar Lighe Sr., has accompanied a senior United States diplomat on an official visit to the Liberia Maritime Training Institute (LMTI), highlighting ongoing efforts to strengthen maritime education and workforce development in Liberia.

The visit saw U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires Joseph Zadrozny tour the institute’s facilities and interact with cadets, gaining firsthand exposure to its training programs and operations. LMTI plays a central role in preparing Liberians for careers in the global maritime industry.

Speaking during the visit, Commissioner Lighe underscored the institute’s importance in producing skilled maritime professionals capable of competing internationally. He emphasized LiMA’s commitment to broadening access to maritime education, particularly for young people, with a focus on creating sustainable career opportunities that contribute to national growth.
