Monrovia — Liberia’s Asset Recovery and Property Retrieval Taskforce (AREPT) is in mourning following the death of its Vice Chairman, Dr. Ranney B. Jackson, who passed away early Saturday at the John F. Kennedy Medical Center in Monrovia. He was 74.

Dr. Jackson had been admitted to the hospital on Thursday evening.

A Lifetime of Public Service
Dr. Jackson was a veteran public servant whose career spanned more than three decades.

He previously served as Superintendent of Bong County, Deputy Minister for Operations at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and as a member of the National Transitional Legislative Assembly.

At AREPT, he worked alongside Chairman Cllr. Edwin Kla Martin as the government intensified efforts to trace, recover, and safeguard public assets. Officials described his expertise in governance, public administration, and finance as a “central pillar” of the Taskforce’s work.

AREPT Pays Tribute
In a statement, AREPT called Dr. Jackson a dedicated colleague whose counsel, discipline, and commitment to Liberia were “invaluable.”

“His loss is a significant one for the Taskforce and for the country,” the statement said.

Chairman Martin, along with the membership and staff of AREPT, extended condolences to the Jackson family and all those affected by his passing.

Dr. Jackson’s death comes at a critical time as AREPT continues its push to recover state assets linked to corruption and mismanagement.
