Monrovia, Liberia – In a groundbreaking move to restore credibility and accountability in the media landscape, the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) is set to enforce professional registration, accreditation, and accountability for all journalists, media practitioners, and institutions operating in the country.

The much-anticipated policy document will be officially unveiled on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the PUL Headquarters on Clay Street, Monrovia. Media professionals across Liberia are urged to attend this landmark event, which promises to reshape journalism in the country.

This game-changing policy aims to weed out unregulated journalism by ensuring that only accredited professionals operate in the media space. It introduces a structured framework to uphold ethical reporting and hold practitioners accountable for their work.

At the press conference, the PUL will also announce the launch date for the official registration and accreditation process. Additionally, the Union will highlight key activities leading up to World Press Freedom Day, including an aggressive fundraising drive to clear an inherited debt of US$28,722 and fast-track the long-awaited construction of the PUL Headquarters.

PUL President Julius Kanubah described the initiative as a historic moment for press freedom and professional journalism in Liberia.

With this bold step, the PUL is setting new standards—ensuring that journalism in Liberia is not just a profession, but a trusted pillar of democracy and accountability.
