PUL Mourns the Loss of Renowned Journalist Zoom Dosso

Monrovia, Liberia: The Press Union of Liberia (PUL) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of veteran journalist Zoom Dosso, who died on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at the age of 62. Dosso, a distinguished bilingual journalist of Ivorian origin, was celebrated for his significant contributions to Liberian journalism since the early 1990s.

In a statement issued on January 3, 2025, the PUL described Dosso as a consummate professional whose career spanned over three decades, marked by his unwavering commitment to quality reporting. His work shed light on critical moments in Liberia’s history, including the civil war, post-conflict recovery, democratic progress, and national development.

Dosso was a trusted correspondent for international media giants such as Radio France International (RFI) and Agence France Presse (AFP). He began his journalism career with the Liberia Communications Network (LCN), which included Radio Liberia International, Kiss FM, LCN-TV, and Patriot Newspaper. His bilingual proficiency in French and English earned him a unique place in the media landscape of Liberia and beyond.

PUL President Julius Kanubah, accompanied by several media professionals, visited the family residence of the late journalist in the Rehad Community, Paynesville, to extend condolences. Among the mourners were former PUL President George Barpeen and prominent journalists Francis Lloyd, Jerry Cephas, Foday Massaquoi, Joel Jacobs, Solo Williams, and Mathew Jacobs.

Mrs. Ophelia Leigh Dosso, the widow of Zoom Dosso, expressed gratitude to the PUL and the wider media community for their support during this challenging time. She announced that the late journalist will be laid to rest on Monday, January 6, 2025, at the KAISER Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Brewerville City following funeral rites conducted by the Muslim community.

The PUL has called on all journalists and media practitioners to honor Dosso’s legacy by attending the funeral at 10:00 AM and paying their final respects.

Zoom Dosso leaves behind a legacy of excellence in journalism, inspiring both his peers and the next generation of reporters. His death marks the end of an era for the Liberian media community, but his contributions will be remembered for years to come.
