Liberia’s President-Elect Departs the Country for Visit to USA

Monrovia, Liberia- President-Elect Joseph Boakai departs Liberia this Friday December 1, 2023 for the United States of America; appoints Vice President-Elect Jeremiah Koung to conduct affairs of the Joint Presidential Transition Team while in the US.

The office of President-Elect Joseph Boakai has announced his departure from the country on Friday, December 1,2023 for the United States of America.

The announcement comes amid ongoing preparation for the inauguration which is slated for January 2024.

The office in a statement said, while in the US, Boakai is expected to hold consultations with stakeholders in the political process of Liberia, including the Unity Party in the America and Canada, to commend them for the massive and unwavering support given to the Unity Party Alliance in the 2023 presidential and legislative elections.

The release also added that the President Elect, is also expected to pay visits to close family members while in the United States.

He is departing the country day after his 79th birth anniversary with Liberians that consided with the official launching of massive cleaning up campaign in Montserrado, Margibi and Grand Bassa Counties ahead of the Inauguration in 2024.

The cleaning up campaign is in line with President -Elect Boakai vision for sanitation across the country as stayed in his platform.
