Monrovia, Liberia– A man identified as Samuel D. Barshell has openly apologized after nearly a week of incarceration for posting a mortal body photo on social media (Facebook) in April 2024.
Mr. Barshell, who is a resident of Paynesville, was arrested and jailed on April 28, 2024, following a Facebook post he made amid a police investigation into the death of a Liberian girl identified as Bansaywhea Nush Troyah in Paynesville.
While the LNP was investigating the causes of her demise, Mr. Barshell posted the lifeless body of the deceased, claiming that she was murdered by someone. The post went viral, drawing the attention of the public as well as causing controversy over the ongoing investigation by the state authority.
In the post, he alleged that “a Sierra Leonean who works at the JFK pharmacy department, Kawasu Sesay, reportedly murdered his fiancée and extracted a portion of her body parts.”.
Contrary to the post, police findings in the matter revealed that the accused was not responsible as perceived.
Meanwhile, after being incarcerated for several days for the post, Samuel has written a letter of apology to the Liberian National Police Crime Service Department, Criminal Court ‘C’, with a copy to the accused and deceased’s family, retracting claims within the post.

“I was very wrong in posting such information on social media (Facebook), which the police were still investigating and have not concluded on the matter,” Barshell wrote in his apology letter.
Mr. Barshell further committed his lifestyle against such misinformation.
