GDM Leader Visits Unity Party Tragedy Victims at JFK Hospital

Monrovia, Liberia – In a compassionate display of solidarity, Edward Appleton Jr., the standard-bearer of the Grassroots Development Movement (GDM), visited survivors of the tragic Unity Party accident at the John F. Kennedy Hospital. The accident occurred on November 20, 2023, during Unity Party’s jubilant Victory celebration, resulting in three fatalities and 25 injuries as a vehicle plowed into the crowd on Broad Street in Central Monrovia.

Appleton, accompanied by members of the GDM, delivered essential items to the victims, including water, soft drinks, and Cream Crickets Biscuits, expressing heartfelt sympathy and encouragement. He urged the victims to trust in the medical professionals at JFK Hospital, assuring them that every effort is being made for their swift recovery.

While extending condolences to the families of the deceased, Appleton called for resilience in the face of tragedy and cautioned against politicizing the situation. He emphasized that justice would prevail through due legal processes. Meanwhile, reports from the Liberia National Police Headquarters indicate that the alleged perpetrator, Lawrence K. William, has been charged with murder and is currently held at the Monrovia Central Prison, awaiting trial.
