Monrovia – The French Embassy in Liberia has firmly dismissed reports suggesting that Emmanuel Macron held a phone conversation with Joseph Nyuma Boakai over the Guinea–Liberia border situation.
In a sharp clarification issued Monday, the Embassy rejected a March 25 report by FrontPage Africa, stating that French Ambassador Isabelle Le Guellec never confirmed any such high-level discussion between the two presidents.
According to the Embassy, the claims circulating in the media are inaccurate and misrepresent the Ambassador’s position. “The information attributed to the Ambassador is incorrect,” the statement stressed, calling for greater responsibility in reporting on sensitive diplomatic issues.
The now-disputed report had alleged that Paris and Monrovia were in direct talks over the escalating concerns along the Guinea–Liberia border—a matter that has recently attracted growing public and regional attention.
Reaffirming its stance, the French mission emphasized its commitment to transparency and urged media outlets to verify facts before publication, especially on matters with potential diplomatic implications.
