The National Foot Soldiers of the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) have thrown their weight behind a nationwide protest against the Unity Party-led government. The protest, organized by Concerned Liberians, is set to spotlight a litany of grievances, including alleged constitutional violations, corruption, unresolved mysterious deaths, and worsening economic conditions.
The Foot Soldiers, a powerful grassroots faction of the CDC, accused the Unity Party administration of betraying public trust. Among their accusations: failure to prosecute corruption, ignoring Supreme Court rulings, mass dismissals of civil servants, and collaborating with GSM companies to restrict affordable data access.
A Call to Action
Declaring that Liberians have suffered enough, the Foot Soldiers called on their members across all 15 counties to mobilize and join the protest. “This is a fight for accountability and justice,” their statement read. “The government must know that the people have reached their limit. Enough is enough!”
The group also criticized the government’s handling of unemployment and alleged political coercion, particularly in the Legislature. They described these actions as part of a broader failure to address Liberia’s pressing challenges.
A Nation on Edge
As the protest gains momentum, the endorsement by the CDC Foot Soldiers signals rising tensions within Liberia’s political landscape. What began as a movement led by Concerned Liberians now threatens to become a full-blown challenge to the Unity Party’s leadership.
With growing support and a call for accountability echoing nationwide, all eyes are on the Unity Party government as Liberians demand answers—and action.
