Monrovia, Liberia- The chance of winning the presidential election on first ballot narrows as NEC announces, 98.40% of Tallied results.
According to the pronouncements of national progressive consolidated Tallied reports by National Elections Commission, about five thousand nine hundred ninety six polling places have been reported, placing the ruling CDC at 43.79 votes accumulated while Unity Party stands at 43.49% Votes.
The Latest released reported by NEC has placed incumbent President George Weah atop of his main contender Joseph Boakai of the Unity Party yet far from obtaining the required number of Votes needed for the wine as described by the Liberian constitution.
NEC’s Chairperson Davidetta Brown Lansanah told a daily briefing on Tuesday, October 17, 2023 that from progressive consolidated tallied report, Mr. Weah obtained 791,661 constituting 43.79%, while Mr. Boakai accrued 786,205 amounting to 43.49%.
Meanwhile, A rerun will be held if neither of the candidates gets less than 50% as required by law.
Prior to the October 10, 2023 polls, Both Ruling CDC and the former ruling Unity Party Candidates have been claiming to win on the first ballot.
