Monrovia – The ACE Submarine Cable network is scheduled for repairs, which the Cable Consortium of Liberia (CCL) has said will have a major impact on internet connection throughout West Africa. The necessary repair is planned for May 31, 2024, from 12:01 AM to 10:00 AM Liberian Time, and will take place on Segment 2.1, which runs between Dakar and Abidjan.
The whole internet traffic that goes via ACE Segment 2.1 will be impacted by this 10-hour maintenance window; this includes connections from Monrovia, Abidjan, Freetown, Conakry, and Banjul to Europe. Significant internet disruptions are anticipated as a result of the interruption, momentarily cutting off essential communication channels in these areas.
CCL’s chairman and CEO, Henry W. Benson, gave reassurance that their business office and technical team would be accessible to handle any issues from impacted parties during this time. The goal of the maintenance is to maintain the submarine cable network’s long-term performance and dependability, which is essential for West African international connectivity.
It is recommended that users residing in the impacted areas make appropriate plans and look for substitute arrangements in order to lessen the effects of this planned outage.
