Congo Town – The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) is expressing dissatisfaction with the 2023 electoral results, urging transparency and accountability from its leadership.
“We the People” group demands detailed reports from coalition leadership and campaign head on electoral funds spent and Bush’s election defeat.
The group members are advocating for immediate party reforms to enhance its vibrancy and appeal to the Liberian people.
The group supports former President George Weah and calls for immediate party reforms, urging a more vibrant and democratic institution, following a disappointing electoral defeat and inactivity from the current leadership.
“We the People” members, known for their dedication to the CDC, are concerned about the party’s direction and urgency to address critical issues following the recent electoral defeat, describing it as damaging to their supporters’ morale.
“We the People” criticized the current party leadership for mismanagement of campaign funds and lack of transparency. They called for a change in leadership and called for an immediate convention to elect the next crop of leaders by August 31, 2024.
The group condemns incompetent and docile leaders in Liberia and calls for a democratic process to ensure leadership is chosen by those committed to upholding party values and principles. They also demand accountability from CDC lawmakers who have refused to challenge the Boakai administration.
Jerome Saydee, a leader of the CDC, has warned that failure to address a convention could lead to people mobilizing against the party leadership. He pledged to work with former President George Weah and new leadership to rebuild the CDC. Saydee emphasized the importance of addressing critical issues and ensuring accountability and transparency in the party’s leadership.
