Monrovia, Liberia –Vice President Jeremiah Kpan Koung of Liberia has departed Monrovia today, June 24, 2024, to attend the 25th Africa Energy Forum (AEF), which will take place in Barcelona, Spain, on June 25–28, 2024.
According to the office of the Vice President, the Vice President Koung is expected to push the agenda of the his administration during the session on Advancing Renewable Energy Projects for Sustainable Value Chains.
As the demand for alternative energy sources grows throughout the African continent, he will participate in a panel discussion about the future of renewable energy, with an emphasis on solar projects. As part of his engagement in Spain, VP Koung will further participate in an exclusive business and trade roundtable discussion with John Humphrey, the UK Government’s Trade Commissioner for Africa.
This engagement will provide an opportunity to meet with leading UK energy investors and EPC contractors who are keen on providing clean energy solutions in Africa. In addition to his activities in Barcelona, the Vice President will hold discussions with the World Bank Group, African Development Bank, Infinity Power, JA-Solar, JCM Power, among others, the office of the VP Noted.
The release also maintained that the meetings will highlight investment opportunities in Liberia aimed at improving electricity delivery capacity.
Vice President Koung’s participation underscores Liberia’s commitment to advancing its energy infrastructure and promoting sustainable development.
His involvement at the AEF will focus on fostering international cooperation, attracting investments, and addressing the energy challenges and opportunities within Liberia and the African continent. The Africa Energy Forum brings together senior government officials and private sector executives to explore opportunities for expanding public and private cooperation in the energy sector.
