Monrovia, Liberia–The Vice President of Liberia, His Excellency Jeremiah Kpan Koung declared his assets on Monday at the head office of the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission in Congo Town.
Been the second high profile government official to publicly declare his assets, Vice President Koung said that the President has taken the lead to declare his assets and therefore all public officials must follow his suit.
After been reminded about bills seeking to establish a Corruption Court, The Vice President before the Body of Commissioners Guarantees that the outstanding bills will be brought on the floor for deliberation and passage.
The Vice President was received by the Body of Commissioners (B0C) through its Executive Chairperson, Cllr. Alexandra Zoe who informed the Vice President that the asset declarations for exiting public officials had closed and the Commission will shortly announce the end of the 30-day period given to incoming public officials to declare theirs.
She highlighted that asset forms received are through her office are treated in confidentiality, Adding that the Commission is under no obligation to publish any public official asset except when requested by law, however, she explained that declarants may choose to publish on their own.
The President of Liberia has also declared his assets about two weeks ago. With this public declaration of these officials, it is expected that other public officials will follow their example to promote transparency and good governance, the head of LACC cautioned.
