Unity Party distances itself from Campaign Spokesman Mo Ali’s Statement indicting ECOWAS of US150,000 bribery

Monrovia, Liberia- Unity Party has distance itself from Campaign Spokesperson Mo Ali’s statement accusing ECOWAS of receiving Bribery to compromise its Role in Liberia 2023 presidential elections.

In response to a recent allegations from UP 2023 Campaign Spokesperson Mo Ali that “ECOWAS received US$ 150,000.00 from Government of Liberia to compromise its neutral role in the Liberia’s 2023 elections”, the party has distance its from the assertion, terming it as wrong accusations.

The party in a release expressed regret in a Facebook post in which the Campaign Spokesperson of the Rescue Mission, Mr. Mohammed Ali, wrongly accused the Economic Community of West African States(ECOWAS) of having “received US$150,000.00” to compromise its neutral role in Liberia’s 2023 electoral process.

According to the Party, Mr. Ali’s assertion was at no time authorized by the Unity Party, neither its Standard-bearer or the Campaign Team.

It should be noted that the UP does recognize and value the indispensable role ECOWAS has played in Liberia’s rebirth and renewal.” they said.

The statement furthered details that in keeping with the party’s Policy of reinforcing the country’s involvement in ECOWAS, the UP reassures ECOWAS body, United Nations and Liberia’s bilateral and multilateral Partners of its unflinching commitment to all protocols of which Liberia has either acceded to and signed.

“The UP therefore regrets Mr. Mohammed Ali’s assertion, which he is aware does not reflect that of the Unity Party.” they added.

it can be recalled that on November 10, 2023 the former UP secretary General and now Campaign Spokesman through a Facebook post accursed the Economic Community of West African States of accepting a USD$150,000 as a bribe intended to compromise their natural role as an international community in the 2023 presidential Elections.
