Temple of Justice, Monrovia– The Supreme Court of Liberia has scheduled a conference for September 4, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. to address a petition for a writ of prohibition involving several high-profile figures.
“By directive of His Honor Yussif D. Kaba, Associate Justice presiding in Chambers, you
are hereby cited to a conference with His Honor on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at the hour of
11:30 a.m., in connection with the above captioned case.” the
This decision follows a petition filed by former officials, including Hon. Samuel D. Tweah, former Minister of Finance, Cllr. Nyenati Tuan, former Acting Minister of Justice, Stanley S. Ford, former Director of the Financial Intelligence Agency, D. Moses P. Cooper, former Comptroller of the Financial Intelligence Agency, and Jefferson Karmoh, former National Security Advisor.
The case, which is set to be reviewed by His Honor Yussif D. Kaba, Associate Justice presiding in Chambers, involves the Republic of Liberia through the Ministry of Justice and the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission as respondents.
The petitioners are seeking a writ of prohibition to halt further legal proceedings related to their case until the September 4 conference.
As per the Court order, all related actions are to be stayed pending the outcome of this conference.
It can be recall that on late July 2024 the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission through the Monrovia City Court issued a writ of arrest for past government officials including Samuel D. Tweah, former Minister of Finance, Cllr. Nyenati Tuan, former Acting Minister of Justice, Stanley S. Ford,
Samuel Tweah As the former Minister of Finance, Tweah was accused of mismanaging funds and facilitating economic sabotage during his tenure.
Nyenati Tuan, The former Deputy Justice Minister faces allegations related to the misuse of public resources and complicity in corrupt activities.
Other Indicted Officials, Stanley Ford (former Director of the Financial Intelligence Agency), Moses Copper (former Controller of the FIA), and Jefferson Karmol (former Security Advisor) are also implicated, showcasing a network of alleged corruption at high levels of government.
