Sport: Bournemouth striker Solanke signs £65m deal with Tottenham Spurs

In a move that might cost up to £65 million ($83 million), Tottenham signed Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke to enhance their offensive options for the upcoming Premier League season.

With a six-year contract in place, the 26-year-old will pay an initial £55 million plus an additional £10 million in add-ons. After spending a brief time at both Chelsea and Liverpool, Solanke started his career at Bournemouth in 2019 and had his highest goal-scoring season with 19 Premier League goals in 2023–2024.

He is anticipated at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for this Saturday’s friendly against Bayern Munich. Tottenham will have made Solanke their record signing if they decide to pay the entire amount.

When Harry Kane left for Bayern Munich a year ago, Spurs resisted the urge to acquire a striker. Now that Ange Postecoglou’s team has placed fifth in the Premier League the previous year, Solanke will want to propel them back into the Champions League. The release clause in Solanke’s contract, which is valued at approximately £65 million, was revealed by Bournemouth owner Bill Foley earlier this summer.

This transaction represents a club record, surpassing the £40 million they paid for Manchester City’s Nathan Ake in 2020.

“After Dominic’s performances for us – in particular his impressive 2023-24 season – it has come as no surprise that a team of Tottenham’s calibre has shown an interest,” said Bournemouth’s chief executive Neill Blake.
