Several Charged Following Thursday’s Demonstration

Monrovia, Liberia – Several individuals involved in Thursday’s sporadic protest have been formally charged with a range of offenses, including criminal attempt to commit murder. The defendants face charges such as criminal facilitation, criminal solicitation, criminal conspiracy, physical obstruction of government functions, aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, and criminal mischief.

The accused include Emmanuel Sumo, Korpo Boakai, Gifty Johnson, Elijah Gweh, Christian Perry, Itea Borbor, Varney Wilson, Lawrence Bessiah, Samuel Joe, Joseph Benson, Prince Zammie, Derrick Sekeh, Odonnell Corbin, and Alieu Brim.

Police reports indicate that during the protest, several properties were damaged, including a vehicle owned by Robert Saah, valued at over $70,000. The defendants have been remanded to Monrovia Central Prison as they await their court trial.
