Sinkor, Monrovia– In a significant drug bust, the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has arrested Abu Keita, a 36-year-old Ivorian, following a raid in Sinkor on August 21. Authorities seized 3.6 kilograms of illicit substances, including 1.8 kilograms of methamphetamine (KUSH) and 1.8 kilograms of heroin. The combined street value of the drugs is a staggering USD 117,000.
The bust follows a thorough investigation that confirmed the substances’ identities. Keita faces serious charges under the 2023 Drugs Law and Penal Law of Liberia, and will be prosecuted in court. This arrest marks a crucial step in the LDEA’s ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking in the region.
For nearly half a decades Liberia has been used as a transit point for illicit drugs trafficking in the region with massive negative impact on the Liberian youthful population.
