Monrovia– In order to provide motorcycle owners in Monrovia with a grace period of one month to acquire the required paperwork, such as insurance and registration, the Liberia National Police has received a request from Hon. Yekeh Y. Kolubah, the representative of District 10 in Montserrado County.
Hon. Kolubah said that many passengers have been taken aback by the sudden execution of these requirements in a phone conversation with DN News, a local online platform.
He voiced worries that conflicts between law enforcement and motorcycle riders may arise as a result of this abrupt implementation. “Giving motorcyclists a month to get their paperwork in order would prevent unnecessary conflict and ensure they are fully compliant with the law,” said the Hon. Kolubah.
“This adjustment period is crucial for a smooth transition and will help maintain peace on the streets of Monrovia.”
In order to prevent future disturbances and to assist the riders in becoming legally compliant without excessive pressure, he requested Police Inspector General Gregory Coleman take this request into consideration.
