By Monrovia, Liberia- Representative Johnathan K. Koffa has merged as winner of the House of Representatives 55th Speakership Elections with 36 votes out of 67.
Unity Party supported candidate and Representative of Montserrado district 11 Richard N. Koon accumulated the votes of 31.
Sixty-Seven Representatives voted with zero invalid vote in the Speakership race that took place at the start of the 55th Legislature on Monday January 15, 2024 in the Chamber of the House of Representatives.
Just a moment to the kickoff of the election, a member of the House and a supporter of Rep. Koon raised a motion, to disallow the speakership bid of Speaker Koffa but the motion was noted by the presiding officer who at the same time ordered the continuation of the election process.
It’s now confirmed that Senator Nyonblee K. Lawrence – President Pro Tem of the Liberian Senate and
Representative Johnathan K. Koffa – Speaker of the House of Representatives are now the face of the 55th Legislature.
