Capitol Hill, Liberia- Grand Bassa County Senator Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence has been elected to serve as the new Pro-Tempore of the Liberian Senate.
The female lawmaker of Bassa won the Post on white Ballot after Senator Gbenzongar Findley of Grand Bassa declined to contest despite nominated by Nathaniel McGill of Margibi County.
Madam Lawrence is now recorded in history as Liberia’s second female President Pro Tempore of the Senate after Former Montserrado County Senator Grace Beatrice Minor, and Americo- Liberia who served the post from 2002 to 2003.
Pro Tempore Lawrence in an exacting moment lauded her colleague Findley for his decision taken to quit, as well as those who strived to give her the victory.
It can be recorded that Senator Lawrence who comes from the Background of Liberty Party came to the Liberian legislature in 2013 following the sudden death of former Senator John Whitfield in Bassa.
