Opposition leader Joseph Boakai maintains lead in presidential runoff election as NEC announces 86% of total polling places across Liberia

Monrovia, Liberia–Unity Party Presidential Candidate and former Vice president Joseph Boakai continues to maintain lead in presidential runoff election over incumbent President George M. Weah.

During a media briefing on Thursday, NEC Chairperson Davidetta Brown Lansanah announced that opposition leader Joseph Boakai obtained 712,741 amounting to 50.58%, while incumbent George Weah got 696,520 constituting 49.42%.

As per the number announced so far, opposition Boakai leads President Weah 16,221 votes margin.

Out of the 15 counties, Lofa, Bomi, Bong, and Margibi Counties have all reported 100%. As of the four counties 100% tallied, incumbent Weah topped Bong County, while his rival Boakai topped Lofa, Margibi and Bomi Counties.
