By Monrovia, Liberia–Unity Party Presidential Candidate and former Vice president Joseph Boakai continues to maintain lead in presidential runoff election over incumbent President George M. Weah.
During a media briefing on Thursday, NEC Chairperson Davidetta Brown Lansanah announced that opposition leader Joseph Boakai obtained 712,741 amounting to 50.58%, while incumbent George Weah got 696,520 constituting 49.42%.
As per the number announced so far, opposition Boakai leads President Weah 16,221 votes margin.
Out of the 15 counties, Lofa, Bomi, Bong, and Margibi Counties have all reported 100%. As of the four counties 100% tallied, incumbent Weah topped Bong County, while his rival Boakai topped Lofa, Margibi and Bomi Counties.
