Ministry of Transport In Flames: Director Denies Sabotage as Fire Engulfs Offices

Monrovia, Liberia – A devastating fire broke out at the Ministry of Transport, starting around midnight on Monday and lasting for several hours, despite the efforts of Liberia’s National Fire and Rescue Service. The inferno primarily affected the basement of the ministry, prompting concerns about the potential destruction of sensitive documents. However, Director for Press and Public Affairs, Lemuel O. Kleeme, swiftly refuted allegations that the fire was a deliberate act to damage crucial records.

In a statement to reporters, Mr. Kleeme clarified that the basement did not house offices containing sensitive documents, dismissing speculations circulating in the public domain. He urged the public not to politicize the incident, emphasizing that the focus should be on understanding the cause of the fire and preventing future occurrences.

The Liberia National Fire and Rescue Service is currently conducting an investigation into the origin of the fire, with findings expected to be made public.
