Monrovia, Liberia- The representative elect of electoral district one in Margibi County Mr. Roland O. Cooper has reclaimed victory following a recent recount conducted in 24 polling places by the National Elections Commission local office in the county’s capital Kakata.
The decision to recount ballot papers in 24 polling places came as a results of a compliant filed by CDC candidate Madam, Maria Eva Derner regarding elections fraud and irregularities.
Madam Derner who was the closest rival to the winner Roland Opee Cooper in the 2023 October 10 representative race was defeated with little over 436 Votes margin something that prompted her to file complain to the Board of commission of NEC furthered indicating ballot tempering among others.
Meanwhile, as a means of validating his win, the Lawmaker elect accumulated extra 27 votes which increased the initial votes margin to 463 following the recounts initiated by the NEC.
Speaking to The People News online moment after his Victory, the official spokesman of team Cooper Timothy disclosed that massive development and Unity has been highlighted by Mr. Cooper as a reward to the citizens of Margibi district one for entrusting him with leadership.
