Monrovia, Liberia – The Unity Party-led government of Liberia, headed by President Joseph Nyuma Boakai, Sr., has firmly rejected claims made by Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) leader George Weah regarding an alleged plot to remove House Speaker Honorable J. Fonati Koffa.

In a statement issued today, the government labeled Weah’s accusations as “absurd” and “unfounded,” asserting that they reflect an attempt to divert attention from internal power struggles within the CDC. Acting Information Minister Daniel Sando stated, “Weah is known for engaging in proxy conflicts with other leaders in the CDC to maintain his dominance within the party.” He suggested that Speaker Koffa’s strong leadership poses a threat to Weah’s position.

Sando further condemned Weah’s insinuation that public funds are being used to influence political actions in Congress as indicative of a troubling mindset. “To suggest that the government is using taxpayer money to orchestrate these actions speaks to the depraved mentality of the former President,” he said.

The government emphasized its focus on delivering results for the Liberian people and reiterated its commitment to the ARREST Agenda, designed to address national challenges. “The people were rescued from Mr. Weah, and we remain dedicated to serving them,” Sando affirmed.

As tensions escalate in Liberia’s political landscape, the government’s firm stance aims to quell speculation and maintain its focus on governance amid ongoing accusations.
