‎The House of Representatives has officially summoned Health Minister Dr. Louise M. Kpoto and the Director General of the National Public Health Institute of Liberia (NPHIL) to appear before its Plenary on October 21, 2025. The request comes amid rising concerns over the escalating Monkeypox outbreak in the country.

‎The move follows a formal appeal by Margibi County District #3 Representative, Hon. Ellen A. Attoh-Wreh, who highlighted the increasing number of reported cases since the outbreak was first confirmed in August 2025.

‎Representative Wreh emphasized the need for detailed updates on the government’s response, including public awareness campaigns, case identification, and treatment strategies.

‎Lawmakers are seeking a comprehensive briefing from both the Ministry of Health and NPHIL, aiming to understand the measures being implemented to contain the virus and safeguard public health.
