Liberia: Court Orders Arrest of NSA Regional Commander, City Solicitor Over Alleged Drug Suspect Escape

Buchanan City Bassa – A dramatic legal storm is brewing in Grand Bassa County after a magisterial court in Buchanan ordered the arrest of a senior National Security Agency (NSA) official and a top city prosecutor for their alleged role in spiriting away a suspected drug trafficker from lawful custody.

The arrest order, issued by the Buchanan City Magisterial Court, names G. Amadou Mousa Keita, Regional Commander of the NSA, and Isaac S. Yorcee, Senior City Solicitor, as defendants in what authorities describe as a calculated scheme to derail a criminal prosecution.

According to a complaint filed by the Office of the County Attorney, the incident dates back to February 24, 2026, when officers of the Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) apprehended a suspect identified as Alex Ndubuisi in District #3. The suspect was subsequently turned over for prosecution and was being transported to court to formally begin legal proceedings.

But what should have been a routine transfer to court reportedly took a stunning turn.

Court documents allege that Commander Keita and Solicitor Yorcee conspired to secure the unlawful release of the suspect. The pair are accused of intercepting the transport vehicle using a white Toyota Hilux pickup, taking custody of Ndubuisi, and removing him from the jurisdiction of the court.

The writ describes the action as removing the suspect “out of the Bailiwick of the Court,” effectively obstructing the judicial process and preventing the state from proceeding with prosecution.

Prosecutors argue that the alleged actions amount to a direct assault on the justice system and represent a serious abuse of public office. The charges levied against the two officials include criminal facilitation, criminal conspiracy, obstruction of government functions by a public servant, hindering law enforcement, and permitting escape.

The magistrate’s order instructs law enforcement authorities to arrest both men without delay and bring them before the court to answer to the charges.

The case has triggered intense public concern in Buchanan and beyond, particularly given the high-profile positions held by the accused. The alleged involvement of a senior NSA commander—an official entrusted with safeguarding national security—has raised troubling questions about accountability within Liberia’s security sector.

Equally unsettling is the implication that a senior legal officer, tasked with prosecuting crimes on behalf of the state, may have instead participated in undermining the rule of law.

As of press time, neither the two accused officials nor the drug suspect have been located. Their whereabouts remain unknown.

The court has made provisions for witnesses in anticipation of a full hearing once the accused are apprehended.

The unfolding scandal is expected to test the resolve of Liberia’s justice system, as citizens await decisive action in a case that strikes at the heart of public trust and institutional integrity.
