Monrovia, Liberia _ In Line with President Boakai Anti drug Mandate, Commerce Minister Submits to Public Drug Examination; Tests Negative of drug intake.
The Minister of Commerce and Industry Amin Modad has taken drugs test, coming out with smiles.
The commerce and industry minister took the drug test on Friday February 27 2024, at the wellness partners clinic located at the Bishop Francis Avenue in congo Town.
The decision by minister Modad is in accordance with President Joseph Nyuma Boakai’s call for officials of his Government to undergo examination for drugs.
It can be recalled during his first state of the Nation address to the country on January 29, 2024, the Liberian Chief Executive declared drug and other narcotics substances as a National Health emergency and called on officials of government to join the fights against the menace.
The president immediately set up a joint Presidential task force chaired by the Ministry of Heath, Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency as Co-Chair, Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Gender and Children’s Protection.
The joint presidential Task Force have begun consultations on possibilities and methods in combating Drug Abuse in the country.
“The drug epidemic, especially the use of kush,in the country is an essential element destroying the future of our children and family in the country”. President Boakai exclaimed.
Since the President’s declaration against drugs in the country, several high profile government officials including the President, his vice President and members of the 55th National Legislature as well as senior cabinet members have all submitted to the public drug test.
Minister Modad expressed joy obeying the President’s mandate and call on other senior government officials to follow suit.
