LDEA Launches “Clean Wave” With Major Bust, Arrests Five and Seizes Over 100kg of Marijuana

The Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) has kicked off its new anti-narcotics initiative, Operation “Clean Wave,” with a major breakthrough—arresting five women and seizing more than 100 kilograms of marijuana on the very first day of the campaign.

The operation, led by Deputy OIC for Operations ACP Patrick Kormazu, swept through the Dexville and Caldwell communities on December 8, 2025, around 1:00 p.m. During the raid, officers apprehended 46-year-old Sierra Leonean national Aminita Kallon, believed to be a well-known supplier in the area.

Authorities say Kallon was arrested with 102.5 kilograms of marijuana, valued at nearly LRD 1.9 million, equivalent to USD 10,250. Alongside her, four additional female suspects—two Liberians and two Sierra Leoneans—were detained for their alleged involvement in drug distribution activities.

The suspects currently undergoing investigation at the LDEA Headquarters are listed as:
– Aminita Kallon, 46, Sierra Leonean
– Siatta Massalay, 30, Sierra Leonean
– Mamie Fofana, 37, Sierra Leonean
– Marian Gbassa, 37, Liberian
– Cecelia Ben, 24, Liberian

The LDEA says Operation “Clean Wave” is designed to dismantle drug networks and restore safety in communities long affected by narcotics trafficking. The agency is urging the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities through its hotlines: 0777133333 and 0888133333.

The LDEA promises further updates as the investigation progresses.
