Paynesville — Grandma’s Mineral Water Company has strongly dismissed allegations circulating on social media and published by Verity News accusing the company of producing unsafe drinking water in unsanitary conditions.
The report alleged that wastewater from a nearby septic source flows close to the company’s pipeline infrastructure. However, the company’s Chief Executive Officer, Jesse Henneh, rejected the claims, describing the viral video as misleading and allegedly part of an attempted extortion scheme.
Henneh stated that the individual who posted the footage previously lived in the community and later demanded LD50,000 in exchange for removing the video. He said he refused the request, maintaining that the company operates lawfully and holds all required permits from relevant authorities.
According to Henneh, the matter has been reported to the Liberia National Police Jacob Town Detachment, where chat messages and call records connected to the alleged demand have been submitted as evidence.
Regulatory Verification
The CEO disclosed that the company has invited regulators to independently assess its operations. He noted that the Environmental Protection Agency recently conducted raw water testing at the facility, while finished water samples were analyzed by certified laboratories.
Henneh said the latest laboratory findings confirm the water meets safety standards for human consumption. He also presented documentation including the company’s annually renewed EPA permit, raw water test results, and laboratory analyses of processed water.
He emphasized that the company remains focused on protecting its reputation and complying fully with national health and environmental regulations.
“Our priority is transparency and accountability,” Henneh said. “Our water is safe, regularly tested, and produced under the supervision of appropriate regulatory authorities.”
The company reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining standards and cooperating with oversight institutions to ensure public confidence in its products.
