Daniel Nills faces “vote of no confidence” over allegations of wanton corruption as Speaker of Mano River Union Youth Parliament.

Monrovia, Liberia- A Group claiming to be members of the majority Block of the 4th Mano River union youth Parliament have passed a vote of no confidence judgment in the Leadership of Daniel Nills as speaker of the Parliament for what they described as wanton corruptions, misused of power, misappropriation of Parliament’s funds, reckless and irresponsible leadership contour.

The members of the majority Block of the 4th Mano River union youth Parliament have accused speaker Daniel Nills of receiving fundings from the Government of Liberia for the Mano River union Youth Parliament but was not used for the institution’s activities.

Reading the petition statement on behalf of the group at a major press conference recently at the Robert Kpadeh intellectual forum in Sinkor, the chairman of the majority Block of the 4th Mano River union youth Parliament Mr. J Benedict S.Paye Jr. disclosed that in 2022 before the Parliament sitting in Tumanburg, Bomi county, the Liberian government through the ministry of youth and sports reportedly provided fifty thousand united states dollars ($50,000.00) for the proper conduct of Parliamentary workouts.

The group alleged that part of said allotment to the Parliament in the national budget was diverted by Mr. Nills and other members of Parliament for personal gains.

Mr. Paye at the same time revealed that the Government of Liberia provided another seventy_five thousand united states dollars (75,000.00) in December 2023 for the Parliament sitting in Buchanan and other activities.

He noted that the purported sitting was boycotted by majority members of the Parliament and as such the funds were expended wrongfully under the directive of Embattled Speaker Nills.

The group is however calling on the Minister of youth and sports Cllr, Jeror Cole Bangalu to make available copies of all activities and financial report covering all programs carried out by the Daniel Nills leadership for the period commencing January 2022 to December 2023.

“As members of the Parliament, we are yet to receive,debate, and pass on a single report from Nills on how thousands of Liberian taxpayers monies have been spent by him as the speaker of the Mano River union youth Parliament, Liberia chapter”. The statement added

Meanwhile, Mr,J. Benedict S. Paye, Jr is urging the ministry of Finance and Development Planning,the Ministry of youth and sports, and other government line ministries and Agencies as well as International Organizations to refrain from doing business with MRU- youth parliament until further notice.

For his part, the Embattled speaker of the Mano River union youth Parliament Mr. Daniel Nills has denied any wrongdoing thereby terming the allegations against him as false and misleading.

Nills advised his colleagues to follow up with the ministry of youth and sports stating that the Ministry has all Audit reports for the Parliament.

He at the sametime accused members of the group of jobs abandonment alleging that they are only interested in siphoning funds intended to carryout functions for the institution.
